Installation Work

Throughout my time creating personal projects I have had the privilege to host and curate installations and transform gallery spaces into immersive environments that extend the story-worlds of my films.

From the manner in which the films are displayed to the lighting, sounds and colours used to enhance the gallery space, every aspect of the spatialization of the films are produced by myself.

"Give me back my Girlhood"

She Said Gallery, Toronto, ON

2024

An exploration of femininity and one's cognitive processing of sexual trauma, this film installation was grounded in three prominent emotional states; anger, sadness and trauma. Each of these effectual responses were portrayed through corresponding Super 8mm films, animations and text. The solo film installation took place from July 12th-18th at She Said Gallery in Toronto, ON.

"Of Moments and Miseries"

The Tett Gallery, Kingston, ON

2023

What I originally set out on capturing when creating 'Of Moments and Miseries' is the way we as humans relive and re-learn through our memories. How do we become haunted by our recollections? When reflecting on what once was, how do we remember ourselves?

And lastly, how do we move forward while honouring what is and what was?

This project was created on a Canon 814 Super 8mm camera using Kodak colour negative and colour reversal film stock. The end result featured three films; (1) Recollecting: Days of Echoes, (2) Reflecting: On the Ritual of Remembrance and (3) Honouring: Every Blessing has a Scar. The solo installation took place on March 25th 2023 from 4:30-7:30pm at the Tett Gallery.
